How to make your business successful in 2021: top 3 pillars

Tetiana Kutsa, Chief Marketing Officer , YouScan

2020 was a challenging year for the whole world, throwing all the predictions out the window. Market conditions are changing so fast during this uncertain period that it became senseless to look in the year ahead and to share any predictions. So instead of trying to predict market conditions for the upcoming year, I will highlight the areas every business should strengthen to be successful.

Awareness

To be up to date with the market is not an option but a necessity today. Customer behavior needs to be researched on a regular basis, otherwise brands risk focusing on outdated or irrelevant customer needs. It’s more important than ever to be aligned with the audience, their lifestyle, habits, problems, interests and more.

The good thing is that there is no need to spend months revealing audience insights — the information is on the surface of social media. All that brands need is to be equipped with a social media intelligence tool that can gather relevant information and timely inform on key changes that need attention.

Agility

Information is key, but it's worth nothing if you cannot turn its value into your business growth. In 2021, brands need to be flexible and able to change their strategies and approaches on the go, as frequently as the market requires.
Don't think there is a possibility of weathering the storm and everything going back to normal. Last year we all met our new normal - unpredictability and fast-changing conditions. It's a wonderful time for noticing opportunities and taking risks.

The first and the foremost goal of each company is to set the right mindset for the team and equip them with modern and powerful technologies to be agile. Empower them to feel comfortable quitting unaccomplished campaigns in favor of new more promising ones. Do your annual planning as you did before, but be ready to quit your plans if the circumstances have changed.

Modernity

Don't ignore rising trends that may affect your business, target audience, communication etc. Stay on the same page with your customers and meet their new expectations. Whether they are concerned about air pollution or gender discrimination, you need to be aware of it and be there showing your involvement and support. Or if the customers start spending most of their time on a new social network, you have to change your communication channel and talk to them where they prefer.

Most people find it difficult to catch on to trends on time. But today there is no need for that. Customers express what matters to them by sharing their opinions and taking certain actions. Listen to what your customers say and watch what they share, and you will never miss a trend.

Summarize

Research your market and audience, be flexible and proactive, follow the spirit and trends of the time to be successful in 2021. Equip your business with an AI-powered social media intelligence tool such as YouScan to cope with rising volume of data and have all the analytics in your fingertips. Analyze visual content, extract common scenes and customer behavior patterns from user generated images to be fully aligned with your customers and to serve them better.
